Assistant Director, Development Communications

Assistant Director, Development Communications

Reporting to the Director of Development Communications, the Assistant Director supports the School's engagement and fundraising priorities by collaborating with members of the Development and Alumni Relations office and the Communications office. This position will create content that articulates the School's fundraising priorities; reflects the culture, values, and achievements of the Choate Rosemary Hall community; and celebrates the generosity of its donors. In addition, this position will help ensure that all Development and Alumni Relations materials maintain our School's brand identity.

This is a full-time, year round, benefits eligible, non-exempt staff position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Write compelling copy for print, web, and social media.
  2. Design email templates, social media posts, volunteer handbooks, and other materials as needed.
  3. Draft and send all email communications from Development and Alumni Relations, including solicitations, stewardship pieces, and invitations.
  4. Manage the School's digital alumni engagement platform and alumni social media presence.
  5. Proofread, edit, and/or craft high-level correspondence and stewardship pieces for our top donors.
  6. Compile alumni and student stories which can be used for engagement, solicitation, and/or stewardship.
  7. Analyze and measure impact of digital communications and engagement activities, including social media.
  8. Manage an efficient and timely gift acknowledgement process that ensures all donors are thanked in an appropriate, consistent, and meaningful way.
  9. Oversee the stewardship of financial aid endowed funds, including assignment of students and student thank you letters.
  10. Handle administrative tasks and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years writing experience in an academic, non-profit or corporate work setting.
  • Superb and proven writing, oral communication, and proofing abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Must have the ability to translate complex ideas into digestible content for web and social media.
  • Must have aptitude for visual communication.
  • Must be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative team member with strong attention to detail and have the ability to manage multiple, complex tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with email marketing systems and social media channels required.
  • Be adept at working independently as well as collegially with others and flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to attend campus and outside events, travel occasionally, and work evenings and weekends as needed.
